POSITION SUMMARY: Environmental Services Tech II

Responsible for maintaining floor care in health care facility, including dust mop/wet mop and floor buffing as assigned. Stripping and refinishing floors, shampooing, and spot cleaning carpet as per schedule and assigned. Assist with regular and “Bio-hazard” trash and linen collection and other special project duties as assigned. Special projects consist of window and wall washing, moving furniture and other duties that are assigned within special projects. High school graduate preferred, but not required. Some previous floor care and cleaning experience preferred. Must be able to bend, stretch, carry, pull, walk and able to lift 50 lbs. and climb a ladder.  Must also be able to operate a floor machine.  Depending on staffing, may be assigned to perform EVS I duties as needed.   The EVS II position is responsible for 90% of the floor care program.  The following list is an overview of the EVS II duties: 

  1. Maintains superior floor care which includes dust/wet mop and floor buffing as well as stripping and refinishing floors. Carpets that may need shampooing or spot cleaned occasionally is included.
  2. Collects trash and linen as per OSHA guidelines.
  3. Answers codes with a sense of urgency.
  4. Performs general cleaning duties as assigned.
  5. Assists with training and orientation of new employees added to EVS as assigned.
  6. Attends in-services, orientations, and workshops as required by EVS manager.
  7. Stocks supplies as needed.
  8. Assists in the ordering of supplies by communication to manager when supplies are low.
  9. Maintains an attitude consistent with Alleghany Health and Environmental Services policies and procedures. Is professional and shows a caring attitude to patients, family members, guests, and hospital staff.
  10. Is teachable and willing to perform duties as assigned.
