POSITION SUMMARY: Performs duties as assigned under the supervision of a providers, and Clinical Services Director. Performs complete intake of patient’s health status, including psychological, social, and cultural factors.  Collects blood and body fluids for laboratory processing. Demonstrates the appropriate skills and ability, based upon the scope of practice or level of training, to assess, treat, and/or care for patients.

 

Responsible to: Providers, Clinical Services Director

Age of Population Served: Pediatric age to geriatrics

 

Qualifications:

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements of this job:

Education/Formal Training:  At least two years experience in medical assistance field preferred

Licensure/Certification: Current North Carolina license as a CMA or CCMA. BLS certification is required or must obtain within 30 days of hire date.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:  Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times.  Actively functions as a patient advocate.  Must have thorough knowledge of all treatment techniques and the operation and maintenance of all clinic’s specific equipment, including computer terminals, printers, and fax machines.  Knowledge of current hospital and clinic emergency policies and procedures is required along with knowledge of fire, safety, disaster, and infection control policies.  Excellent communication skills are necessary.   Demonstrates an ability to respond to changing workloads and performs in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations when time is critical.  Uses support staff in an efficient and cost-conscious manner.
