·         Demonstrates skills and knowledge to effectively complete assigned tasks and completes all required education programs

·         Delivers safe, accurate and timely patient care that conforms to Alleghany Health standards and departmental goals and main job functions as outlined below

·         Maintains all patient records to comply with required standards, reviews records regularly and obtains physician counter signatures of all notes where medical care was rendered by the nurse practitioner as necessary.

·         Maintains strictest patient confidentiality.

 

Service

·         Works diligently to meet every customer’s needs.

·         Fully engaged, fully aware and available to help others while on duty

·         Obtains a complete medical history from patient, family, previous medical record, etc.

·         Performs complete physical examinations on patients.

·         Orders routine and diagnostic lab and x-ray studies.

·         Diagnoses acute and chronic illness on the basis of clinical findings, laboratory and x-ray reports and the results of other diagnostic procedures.

·         Formulates, initiates and monitors patient management plans for each patient assigned to the Physician’s Assistant, based on consultation with the supervising physician.

·         Prescribes and adjusts medications according to therapeutic goals and explains treatment to patients, families and other clinical personnel.

·         Consults with physicians and other members of the health care team as necessary.

·         Refers patients requiring hospitalization or assessment and management of conditions to supervising physician or appropriate specialist.  Follows these patients closely with the physician.

·         Renders emergency care and treatment including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, starting IV fluids, plasma expanders and medications, sutures lacerations.

·         Teaches and counsels patients and families.

  • Performs other necessary duties as required by the clinic to meet the goal of providing optimal health care services.
  •  Maintains North Carolina certifications and licensure by meeting continuing medical education.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Completes all clinical monitoring requirements and maintains paperwork relating to Supervisory Physician requirements.
  • Performs related work as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements of this job:

Education and Formal Training: 

Successful completion of a training program for Physician Assistants recognized by the state of North Carolina.

Certification by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants

Obtain DOT medical exam certification within 90 days of initial hire and maintain throughout employment.

 

Work Experience: 

One (1) year of professional experience in a clinical setting preferred.
